Surgical oncology, cancer genetics, and translational science
Dr. Sonia Cohen is a surgical oncologist caring for patients with sarcoma and melanoma at Massachusetts General Hospital.
She received her undergraduate degree from Johns Hopkins University and her PhD in Genetics from Harvard University. She earned her medical degree through the Harvard-MIT Health Sciences and Technology Program before completing her surgical training at Massachusetts General Hospital and a clinical fellowship in Complex General Surgical Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
Dr. Cohen’s research focuses on understanding how changes in the structure and regulation of the genome give rise to cancer, with particular emphasis on developing prognostic tools and novel therapeutics for soft tissue sarcomas and melanoma.
